What Foxy Is Not
- Foxy is NOT a trojan, spyware, adware, etc.
It will NOT generate any network traffic other than that requested by
its clients (browsers and other programs that use Foxy to proxy
their HTTP connections).
- Foxy will NOT “call home” for data collection, automatic
updates, etc.
- After evaluation period is over the software will NOT self-destruct,
or stop functioning. (There will be some mild nagging however.)
- Foxy does NOT use Windows Registry (except for adding a service entry,
which is optional (if you chose not to run it as a service)).
Foxy does NOT write anything to files/directories other than its log
and data files (all in one or two directories). All configuration
and data files are plain text.
- Foxy has nothing to do with “foxyproxy.net” (that is a public
proxy with primitive filtering capabilities), “Foxy by Proxy”
(a 1952 Bugs Bunny episode), or anything else that has “foxy”
in its name.
- Foxy also has nothing to do Viktor Moser's Foxy (also meaning
Filtering pROXY). This is an open source proxy for mobile web access
developed in the course of the work on Viktor's Master's Thesis.
See http://foxy.sourceforge.net.
- Foxy has no operating system or browser-specific functions.
The only reason why it's not distributed in Linux or other incarnations
is the lack of resources to maintain such builds.
